Shaggy Dog Story: Sad tale of Ellen DeGeneres’s Iggy

Iggy - The Ellen DeGeneres Show
reports: “Here’s what happened. I love animals. I love animals. I rescue them and I’ve adopted so many animals and found so many animals homes over the years. On September 20, I adopted a dog from a rescue organization here in the area. I got it neutered, I got it trained and I paid my vet extra money to take it home to sleep in the bed with him at night instead of a cage. I spent $3000 on this puppy to acclimate it, to train it to be with our cats. It was just too much energy and too rambunctious.”
Sadly, now the dog rescue service owners from whom Ellen DeGeneres purchased the dog are receiving death threats:
“My life is being threatened, this is horrible. I rescue dogs. I can’t believe this,” Baktis said sobbing Tuesday night.
Access has reached out to Ellen’s publicist for comment on the threats, but has not heard back. Ellen’s attorney had “no comment” on the situation.
“People are being so cruel to us. People are sending things that say ‘Nazi’ and words that I can’t repeat. You know so we can’t even review [adoption] applications because at this point we think [the threat givers] are just gonna come and try to hurt our animals.”
I’m sure the pet rescue people only have the good of the dogs they rescue at heart. They don’t want the animals they rescue to be passed from hand to hand like luggage. Yes, they surely could have handled this differently, and I hope that common sense prevails and all concerned start thinking about little Iggy.
