Fun homemade dog treats

Every dog deserves a treat occasionally. You can make these homemade dog treats very easily, and your dog will love them:

JASON’S DOGGIE BISCUITS
from Woman’s Day magazine, 11/5/85

3 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 cup rye flour
2 cups bulgur (cracked wheat)
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup instant nonfat dry-milk powder
4 tsps salt
1 envelope active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
3 cups chicken broth
1 egg, slightly beaten with 1 tsp milk
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Mix the first 7 ingredients with a wooden spoon in a large bowl. Dissolve the yeast in warm water in a glass measuring cup. Add this to your dry ingredients. Add chicken broth to flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms, and then roll out the dough about 1/4 inch thick. Use a bone dog cookie cutter, place on prepared cookie sheets. Brush bones with egg glaze. Bake for 45 minutes, turn off oven and leave biscuits in oven overnight to harden. Makes 30 large bones.

HOMEMADE DOG TREATS

3 1/2 cups flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup rye flour
1 cup cornmeal
2 cups cracked wheat
1/2 cup powdered milk
4 tsp salt
7 1/2 g (1 envelope) yeast
1/4 cup warm water
2 cups chicken stock
Combine all of the dry ingredients (except yeast) in a bowl. In another bowl, combine the yeast and warm water. Leave this mixture sit for an few minutes and then add chicken stock. Mix the liquid into the dry ingredients and knead for 3 minutes. Roll out the dough about 5mm thick and cut into biscuits. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Turn off oven and leave biscuits in overnight.
