One of the less lovely aspects of dog ownership is scooping your dog’s poop.

Great idea, use newspaper wrappers:
Months ago, I asked co-workers to start saving their bags for me. Since then, I’ve been inundated. The Chronicle’s bags are always reliable, sturdy and hole-free. Some newspapers, however, use chintzy ones that, upon closer inspection, resemble grape produce bags. Before you plunge and grab, heed my warning and check the bag.
